Dina Daly
Dina Gomes Daly is Executive Director of Building African American Minds (BAAM) Inc. She began this position in April 2021. Dina and her husband, Derick are the founding members of BAAM and she has been on the board since its inception. Dina is responsible for all the programming that is offered by BAAM to youth, their families and the community, at large. Services include after school & summer camp programs for boys & girls as well as workforce development program, Wellness Matters! Program that will include workshops on physical and mental health program.
Prior to that, Dina was the Director of Caroline County Department of Social Services. She served in that capacity since June 2004. As Director, Mrs. Daly was responsible for oversight of many programs that provide assistance to families in need (Medical Assistance, Energy Assistance, Food Supplement Program, Child Support Programs, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/Adoptions, Adult Services Programs, etc.). In her capacity she led her organization to the accreditation process which has been accredited through Council on Accreditation (COA) since 2006.
Mrs. Daly was Assistant Director for Child and Family Services at the Dorchester County Department of Services where she served in that capacity from 1999-2004.
From 1989-1994, Mrs. Daly worked providing direct services to families as a child protective services/foster care caseworker. Dina was instrumental in providing needed services that either allowed abused/neglected children to remain safely in their home or provided foster care services and developed plans to ensure that children in foster care attained a permanency plan that best met their needs, either reunification with family or adoption.
From 1994-1999 Mrs. Daly served as a clinical supervisor for child welfare programs as well adult services programs. In this capacity, Dina provided direct supervision to social work staff charged with providing child welfare and adult services to residents of Caroline County.
Mrs. Daly and her husband also have a BAAM Scholarship Fund through the Mid-Shore Community Foundation. The scholarship program is designed to provide scholarships to African American males attending a four-year college.
Mrs. Daly graduated from the University of Maryland at Baltimore where she received her Master’s degree in Social Work. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. She is a licensed certified social worker and a graduate of Leadership MD (2007). Mrs. Daly is a member of Rotary Club of Easton and serves in many local non-profit boards and has held leadership positions in several of them.
